Indonesia, a nation of vast and varied islands and peoples, has known much conflict in its history. Colonization, war, occupation, and the quest for independence have all resulted in both challenges and opportunities for our Indonesian brothers and sisters in Christ. In this brief overview of the country’s persecuted church, we learn of ongoing opposition to the spreading of the Gospel and attempts to suppress the witness of believers through enforced policies and targeted violence. At first glance, it may seem that the church in this part of the world is facing a losing battle.
